Happy music - By: Ms. J. Dent, 18 Oct 2005
Its not often that music is made like this - happy & summery. This is a great album to listen to on grey rainy days as the songs will take you away to sunshine & lazy days on the beach.
This guy is a genius - buy his album!
Meaty record and a soundtrack for sunny days - By: Gareth Smyth, 02 Jan 2004
I tuned into this record one summer in Sur (or Tyre) in south Lebanon & it provided the perfect sound-track for trips to the beach, drinks at the Jamal ('camal') cafe & drives around the rolling foothills near the area then occupied by Israeli troops.
This is catchy, funky, melodic reggae, with - yes - a real touch of maverick & some surprising acoustic twists. It's the kind of album that will bring back memories when you hear it later, including in my case one occasion when a Palestinian slaughtered a goat just in front of a visiting friend from Nottingham (yes, Nicola) who thought meat came on plastic containers in Sainsbury's.
Meaty record. Apparently the 'maverick' is a Scot. Sounds like a Jamaican.
Fantwastic Finley - By: neil_gandhi@hotmail.com, 08 Nov 2000
Finley Quaye what a guy, & what a debut album. I originallly bought to hear his version of Bob Marley's song 'sun is shining' which he named 'sunday shining', but after listening to some of his other songs such as 'supreme I preme' & 'Even after All' I was hooked & thought that it was definately worth every penny It is a good album for just chilling out to & great for stress relief. All i can say to anyone who is dubious about it, is BUY IT RIGHT NOW & part with ya money
Suberb first time effort - By: binesh@yahoo.com, 30 Oct 2000
This album exudes coolness. It's a wonderful mix between reggae & a more electronic brand of music. You will NOT be disappointed.
