A superb Who Live cd with a more varied repertorie: Trick of the Light and other great Who songs. - By: luco, 13 Jun 2006
This cd has been unjustly degraded by many "rock critics" but even with so many musicians on it THE WHO retain their integrity & energy. It is not "THE WHO ON ICE" & you only have to hear JOHN ENTWISTLE singing & comanding his song TRICK OF THE LIGHT to feel the way he was feeling at the moment. i was there (Miami) when he sang it & it was THE MOMENT & THE SONG that evening. Other excelent songs are Join Together, Sparks, Love Reing Over Me & Face the Face. There are some flaws here such as Wont get fooled again & I can see for miles. Maybe one day MCA will release more concerts from the 1989 WHO tour.

Why is this such an un-mentioned recording? It the the best recording of Tommy I have ever heard; forget the rubbish about it 'not being the real Who etc.', the music is bigger than that. Four musicians where never enough to do it justice live ...
Tommy, can you hear me? - By: , 11 Feb 2003
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of "Tommy", The fabulous Who take to the road once more. The Who were a little disappointing on their previous live offering, "Who rocks America", but fear not, "Join Together" ROCKS. Kenny Jones was never a wise choice of replacement for Moon, being too uniformed & rigid in style. "Join Together" has Simon Phillips on the sticks, & he is awesome. The sound is beefed up with the additions of a percussionist & a lead guitarist, Townshend chiefly sticking to accoustic duties. Considering he impaled his hand on his whammy bar at the start of the tour, this is forgivable! Musicallly "Join together" is a fine album, it's good to hear "Tommy" performed live in it's (almost) entirety, & the stomp through old Who chesnuts like "Susbstitute" & "Won't get fooled again" are always a joy to hear. Minor criticism's are the frequent over-use of the horn section, & Daltrey does struggle at times with the higher notes. Smalll criticism's though, as overalll "Join together" is a fine album & a bit of a hidden gem.
