Ulysses Awakes is a beautiful & moving reworking of Monteverdi which has a surprising element of spirituality about it. The soloist, Jane Atkins, interprets the work with great sensitivity & clearly relishes the emotional impact of the work.

Of the other works on the disc, It Is Midnight Dr Schweitzer, is a vivid addition. Twelve short pieces inspired by the work of the inventive Swiss Sculptor, Jean Tinguely, show an uncanny affinity with his aesthetic.
