dismal - By: , 04 Mar 2005
Digitallly remastered from old Pye recordings the effect is simply painful. I could not comment on what it may have sounded like on vinyl, but on CD the effect is lifeless, the bass part often sounds slightly out of tune, the arrangements are tedious, & multiple verses are often simply repeated (ad nauseam).

The selection of hymn tunes include many stock favourites, but the rendition would be worthy of a junior school band.

Perhaps the only reason for having it is to remind us how much better some other recordings can be.

Hymns 'n Brass - By: Malcolm S. Watson, 19 Jan 2005
This is a glorious selection of hymn tunes, beautifully played. I'm only sorry that there is no 'Volume 2'with more of the same.
Musically enchanting and highly enjoyable to listen to - By: , 09 Dec 2000
The strength of each brass instrument is displayed in this album with such passion that after listening to it, you just want to learn to play yourself. I've listened to this nearly everyday, since I've bought it & I've now taken the trumpet up- I would love to be in a brass band.
