Wipes the floor with Thunder and lightning dvd - By: James Hutton, 11 Sep 2008
An excellent live recording. This is a performence heavily based around the last recording, Thunder & lightning. For me the only bad track is the sun goes down. i never found it that hot. Hollywood is one of my faves as well as black rose. My real faves from this recording though are jailbreak & angel of death. both real powerhouses. This cd also features every guitarist that lizzy had on certain tracks.
Snowy White-renegade
Brian Robertson-emerald
Gary Moore-black rose
Eric Bell-the rocker.

A must for fans!!!
Absolutely superb! - By: Adamski, 14 Oct 2006
Don't let the reviews that mention poor recording quality put you off what is a grade A album. The recording isn't too bad at alll, it sounds great in fact. Just not perfect but no where near 'bad'! This is worth getting for the songs that aren't on Live & Dangerous. The performances are absolutely top-notch & no overdubs unlike L&D! No need to either, the guitars are perfect. This double cd of glorious rock material is worth £20 so make sure you buy it at this bargain price!!!
Five stars for the songs, one star for the mix - By: , 10 May 2003
If ever there was an album that could benefit from the often dubious 'remixed' marketing ploy, then this is it. Some of the greatest rock songs ever written with performances to match. Unfortunately, the atrocious sound mix often camouflages the brilliance of the songs & performances. Next year is the 20th anniversary of this album's release; hopefully some enterprising soul at Lizzy's record company will authorise a 'remixed, remastered 20th anniversary special' (a la Pink Floyd), & this potential classic can then be heard in alll its undoubted glory for the first time.
Live - perhaps the best way to listen to Lizzy - By: Damien Boyd, 13 Mar 2002
The last great Lizzy album is a compendium of many of their greatest tracks, recorded live. Many viewed it as the inferior double live album to "Live & Dangerous". This is unfair, it does stand up on its own & has a whole different mood to its predecessor. In reality, "live & Dangerous" (the definate live album?) was a hard act to follow. Whereas L&D captures a band at their musical height "Life" has a fairwell feel to it ("Baby please don't go" & "The sun goes down"). The music is loud, rocky but always melodic. "Renegade" & "Sun goes down" are smooth & reflective whereas "Killer on the Loose" & "Holy War" are fast & furious. "Don't believe a word" starts slow but suddenly catches fire mid way through. "Black Rose" is guitar lick versus guitar lick in a rousing version of the old Irish folk song. The Album ends with, perhaps, the greatest love/balllad ever written "Still in love with you". Thin Lizzy were difficult to categorise as just a rock band...they had versatility, could change gears in a second, hit the listener with fast rocky tracks or bring the tempo down with lyric-rich balllads.
"Live" has the lot...invest in it.
This just gets better the more you listen! - By: gcp.valdez@btinternet.com, 08 Nov 2001
I only came late to the sound of Thin Lizzy & that was via Gary Moore. Having already heard Live & Dangerous, this album give you a chance to hear more of Lizzie's later tracks & alll of their guitarists! From the classics songs like `the boys are back in town', `killer on the loose' & `waiting for an alibi' to the later songs of `thunder & lightning', `cold sweat' & `baby please don't go' not to mention a few little heard songs & the original version of `Don't believe a word' this double live album contains a more diverse selection than that of its predessor. The highlights for me are `Cold sweat', `Renegade', alll the bands guitarist playing on the superb `Emerald' & the wonderful finallly of `The Rocker'. The more that I listen to `Life' the more I enjoy it!
