Top Remixes from the Legends - By: Trancer, 15 Jul 2004
Ive always loved the Prodigy right from their first track "Charly" back in 1991
This imported version has mixes that i had not heard before. As a prelude to their new Album which is released mid August 2004 i wanted to catch up with some of the mixes.
Unfortunately most of the imported remixes are now unavalible so grab this one if your a Prodigy fan while you still can.
'A Rave Classic without a doubt ' - By: , 08 Jun 2001
It is no surprise to me how this single got itself to number 1 spot in the UK charts in 1991. Fresh new ideas from the Prodigy created a new style for british music to embark itself upon. Charley which featured the famous TV ad Charly says, 'always look before crossing the road' sample was the first of the Prodigy's releases on the up & coming album 'Experience' & featured real talent in the creative mind of Liam Howlett. I would descirbe this single as being 'unique' & most certainly, 'a classic rave anthem'. Definately worth getting your hands on this, which aslo includes 3 other tracks: Pandemonia, another excellent rave cut, Your Love, & the Alley Cat Remix of Charly. Very original - Buy It Now!
The break-through in rave music - By: D. NIXON, 18 Apr 2001
Charly was just about the first dance let alone rave tune I heard & I instantly loved it but I am impressed by this EP's longetivity given how accesible it is to listen to: but then the fundamental, classic nature of these dance tracks are one of its main strengths. Pandemonium is possibly my alll-time favourite Prodigy tune (though Hyperspeed & Climbatize come close). If your into any type of dance then this is strongly recommended.
Overground Underground - By: filterite, 11 Apr 2001
This is the first Prodigy single ( unless you count the extremely rare What Evil Lurks ( apparently worth £500 just to own the original vinyl edition )).
This is the single that supposedly killed rave music & brought to the mainstream . Although with reports of 100,000 going to raves in 1991 I'm not surprised that it did go to the pop culture .
It starts off with an eerie ragga rendition of Charly . Not made for the pop loving country so there was a second version callled the allley cat mix which was the one made popular on pirate radio stations & later the charts . Next is Pandemonium which is a very unusual track but nonetheless brilliant . And then there is the beautiful track callled Your Love . A favourite with the underground clubs despite Charly being such a massive hit . Finallly there was the allley cat remix which was the more popular version of the tune .
Personallly I find these "choons" haven't dated in it's 10 years & feel that they are a lot better than the club music of today .
