The Definitive Bob Marley & The Wailers - By: Nick Tiley (dogmanstar2@hotmail.com), 14 Aug 2001
1968-74 - The 6 years which defined what was & what was to come in Bob Marley's career with the Wailers. "The Early Years" brings together some of the greatest singles composed by Bob Marley, Peter "Tosh" Macintosh & Curtis Mayfield (by whom "Keep On Moving" was written & reproduced by Bob Marley, Neville "Bunny Wailer" Livingston & Pete Tosh on this album only). The final track on this album "Keep On Skanking" was not released as a single but is a solo piece by Bob Marley, freestyling almost, to bring an end to this celebration of the joys of reggae music. This album as with each Bob Marley album, song & lyric brings about an overwhelming feeling of peacefulness in anyone who listens to it. When you listen to Bob Marley & The Wailer's musical genius, the under-appreciated beginnings of which are contained in this album, alll the problems, fears & bull***t disappear & you are left with an amazing feeling of a carefree existence & most important of alll a good mood in which to do whatever the hell you like.
