I like it more now! - By: D. L. Wilkinson, 29 Sep 2008
I have to admit when I first got this on vinyl in 1988,I thought it was ok but not brilliant & later gave it away. Now I have re-bought this early English death metal classic.I became interested in Bolt Thrower by John Peel playing them with his peel sessions(along with Extreme Noise Terror,Napalm Death,Doom & Carcass)and purchased my first record of this type, previously being into punky/goth,electronic & indie type things.
I liked some of the tracks but found it a bit monotonous then. Now with the cd it sounds great.Sure it is monotonous in a way but you could say it's single minded & the production is brillianty basic, due to their late eighties punk connections, but it still sounds like a tank rolling along.Maybe this was the first English death metal album,I can't think of any earlier proper English death metal. The cover art is great as well, enough for me to buy it in itself.
