Superlative compilation album - By: Jay Hoolihan, 21 Feb 2005

This is, bar none, the best compilation album I've ever come across. I'm shamed to admit I was unfamiliar with many of the tracks & artists until I saw the film. In hindsight I now understand the magnitude of the gaping whole this was in the development of my muscial appreciation. A vista of 70's soul-funk reallly opened up for me post-Jackie-Brown.
Underrated - By: , 19 Jun 2004
Much like the film, the soundtrack to Jackie Brown is criminallly underrated. Possibly due to the fact that Pulp Fiction is almost perfect, possibly because people expect more surf music & uber quotable dialogue on the CD. This is QT's Blaxploitation film & that's reflected in the music in a big way. If you're into that kind of thing, it's a good collection of 70's funk, soul & a few oddities like Johnny Cash's "Tennesee Stud" & "Detroit 9000". The only real flaw is Pam Grier's "Long time woman" which sounds very much like an actress singing.
Give the dialogue a chance & it's very cool, laid back & you might even find yourself murmering "if you know Beumont..."and so on. The same goes for the music, it's a grower, trust me.
Not The Best, But Still Worth Buying - By: , 02 Jan 2002
This by far is not the best soundtrack to co-inside with the work of Tarantino to date. The dialogue from the film is not as self contained as that of his earlier works & as for the music, the cool factor associated with Tarantino has well & truly died here. Having said that, the music is bearable & for people that liked the movie it's definitely worth buying. And you can do much worse for your money, (however, if you're not Hell Bent on buying this soundtrack I suggest you skip it & buy the Pulp Fiction soundtrack, MUCH better!!!)
A groovy soundtrack to take you back to the film - By: , 01 Mar 2000
The fitst time I played this soundtrack I was a little disappointed, although I have seen the movie hundreds of times, the soundtrack just seemed a feeble reminder. I did give it time though, & it reallly grows on you. As with the Pulp Fiction soundtrack there are smalll excerpts from the film, which add to the enjoyment/amusement factor, although don't play it in front of your granny! Excellent CD.
Another funky, fun Tarintino soundtrack - By: , 31 Dec 1999
This album at first glance is not appealing at alll, & in many respects is a great dissapointment when compared to its predecessors. It lacks the completness of the Pulp fiction & Resovoir dogs soundtrack. This however soon diminishes when you listen to the album, it grows on you! Tracks stand out like 110th street, Midnight Confessions & Strawberry letter 25. Its also nice to sit back & listen to the almost comedy tracks such as Tennesse Stud. The soundbites are also a trademark of the tarintino sountrack & this doesn't dissapoint, with super cool Samuel L. Jackson & the skitish De Niro they divide the album up nicely.

All in alll I recomend this to anyone who has the previous tarintino soundtracks, however like the movie it is not as good as it could have been.
