Her Best? - By: Take Take 2, 28 Apr 2008
Having liked most of Madonna's work up untill this album. I was blown away by the complete change of direction. I think this features some of her strongest songs & some of the best production of her career.
The albums following this alll gained much higher sales & acclaim but this is her forgotten masterpiece.
Madonna-Erotica - By: M. Barnes, 12 Apr 2008
OK this is the first studio album that Madonna has released that I have given a 5 star rating, as I do my reviews in chronological order. It's not my personal favourite, but out of alll the albums she has under her belt currently, it is definately my runner up.
I love the album so much because of alll the strong lyrical messages it protests, & the incredibely catchy tunes that a lot of the songs hold. Even if you don't like this Madonna period, I would encourage you still to get this album because it is so much more than just sex. It also dives into issues such as true love, real hate, freedom of thinkings & speech etc. It is a very mature album, & a real classic!
I do find a couple of the songs a little irritating but on the whole, I'd have to say that this album gets played a lot!

My personal ratings:

Erotica 4/5
Fever 2/5
Bye Bye Baby 2/5
Deeper And Deeper 5/5
Where Life Begins 5/5
Bad Girl 5/5
Waiting 5/5
Thief Of Hearts 4/5
Words 5/5
Rain 5/5
Why's It So Hard 5/5
In This Life 5/5
Did You Do It? 2/5 ('explicit content' edition only)

ONE OF THE BEST - By: S. J. Pinder, 30 Mar 2008
ONE OF HER BEST ALBUMS TO DATE.
ALL OF THE TRACKS ARE ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!
THE GREATEST SONGS ARE-EROTICA(OF COURSE),BYE BYE BABY,DEEPER AND DEEPER,BAD GIRL,RAIN,WORDS,WAITING, THIEF OF HEARTS,WHERE LIFE BEGINS,WHYS IT SO HARD?,and IN THIS LIFE.
SO MOST OF THE TRACKS ARE FANTASTIC, NOT ALL CRITICS WERE HARSH ON THIS ALBUM, BUT THE ONES WHO WERE OBVIOUSLY DON'T SLEEP WELL AT NIGHT AND THINK ITS FUN TO BE DEPRESSING AND GIVE NEGATIVE RESPONSE TO ART, A FABULOUS PIECE OF WORK ON THIRTEEN TRACKS...GOD I LOVE THIS ALBUM IT REALLY PUTS YOU IN THE RIGHT MOOD FOR A WEEKEND AFTER A LONG WEEK, A GREAT ALBUM!!!!!!!!:):):)
ALL THIS ALBUM NEEDED WAS VOGUE AND IT WOULD BE HER GREATEST ALBUM,HOWEVER THIS ALBUM IS FAR MORE GREATER THAN THE RIDICULOUS "IM BREATHLESS".
#3 ON MY TOP 10 ALBUM LIST(JUST BEATEN BY TRUE BLUE AND LIKE A PRAYER)AND IN LEAGUE WITH MUSIC/CONFESSIONS(ALL OF WHICH ARE MY TOP 5).

Aural Pleasure - By: A. Bristow, 23 Feb 2008
Overwhelmed by the über-hype & 'scandal' of her SEX book, this gem deserves more attention, as it has arguably the best production of any Madonna album. Listen to it LOUD or on headphones! Your ears will thank you.
Good solid album - By: Blackjack Davy, 30 Dec 2007
This album has a certain repuation... reputation & I approached this with some trepidation. On listening it's not reallly as bad as people make out. There are a few... naughty bits in it but it's reallly not obscene. Most of it left to your imagination. In fact most the album is about love & the end of relationships in the case of a couple of songs & even the death of a friend from AIDS than about sex.

Shep Pettibone lays down some serious grooves & and handles the work behind the mixing desk competently. His songwriting is pretty solid too, or at least the musical side of it, Madonna adds her usual lyrical contribution of course. Theres nothing remarkable here, but it's very solid nonetheless. All the more remarkable for the pressure he was under when he was making it, Madonna is not known for her patience in the recording studio & most this work had to laid down pretty quickly. His diaries of the recording sessions are available on the 'net & they're well worth a read so check them out.
