A good album from the Queen of Pop - By: B. Carrick, 25 Jun 2008
This album is not too bad, contains 17 great tracks.
Allthough there is one let down, none of them are the proper single/album versions. They are alll remix edits or extended versions for this compilation.
All re-recored using Q sound, makes the tracks sound very different from the orginal, in some cases better (Live To Tell & Like A prayer). But just makes other tracks sound awful (Lucky Star, La Isla Bonita).
Personallly I think if Madonna used alll the proper single versions this album would have done much better & also if it included hits such as True Blue, Dress you up, Who's that girl & Causing A Commotion.
With rumours of Madge releasing a 25 year box set after she has finished releasing the singles from Hard Candy, hopefully alll the great songs from here & one's that were not included here will be on that. More importantly hopefully it will feature the proper single versions also.
I still recommend this album to those who do not know much about madonna's earlier music. However I see this as a remix album rather than a greatest hits.
Utter dross - again! - By: Langella, 14 Jun 2008
Great! A whole collection of elevator muzak! She must be good! Best thing about this is the wordplay of the title. Otherwise, it's one massive yawn of musical anonymity! Any 5th-rate singer songwriter from Saturday night ITV can easily do better than this load of unoriginal dross!

A very good collection of Madonna hits 82/90 but why they mixed it with QSound I don't know because it leaves it sounding unfinished.
An excellent 'guilty pleasures' compilation of Madge's best - By: C. Hyams, 25 Apr 2008
This is still the best compilation of Madonna's earlier work covering her first set of studio albums between 1983 & 1990. The running order is perfectly chronological, always good for a compilation as we can see how she developed & expanded her sound over the years.
No doubt lack of space (this is a 1CD set only) meant that the sublime no.1 single Who's That Girl, the excellent power-pop of Gambler, the quirky Causing A Commotion (albeit taken from a terrible movie) & Hanky Panky (a no.2 hit from 1990) don't even get a look in. Nor do the Top 5 hits Angel & Dear Jessie, or the lesser-known Top 10 hit The Look of Love. Thus seven big hits are missing & a 24 track double-CD would have done Madonna proper justice, & would probably have sold just as well.
Even though Madonna had a long purple patch in the early to mid-1990's (only redeemed by 1997's Ray of Light album), this is still probably the best way to remember her earlier output. It's an incredible string of 17 consecutive UK Top 10 hits, alll of which are instantly recognisable as 'MadgeMusic'. Hopefully Sire will consider a more comprehensive 2-disc set one day covering this period ?
Great Album Compilation!!! - By: Nicolas Velasco, 30 Sep 2007
Could anybody define pop without MADONNA? Holiday, Like A Virgin, Material Girl, Into The Groove, Papa Don't Preach, Open Your Heart, La Isla Bonita, Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, Cherish, Vogue...alll her classics from 2 decades ago are here. Although some her tracks are shorter than their album version, they're still enjoyable because they tracks have been remixed. I love this album. It's MADONNA! The Queen of Pop!
P.D. Who's this guy who's written these negative things about MADONNA? Shouldn't he have written about the album?
