Harry Potter Review

The complete Harry Potter box set is made up of eight films:

  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1
  • Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2

One of the biggest blockbuster franchises of all time, the Harry Potter series helped launch the careers of Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione), and Rupert Grint (Ron), as well as giving experienced, and beloved British actors their most famous roles such as Maggie Smith (Professor McGonigal), Richard Harris, and later Michael Gambon (Dumbledore), Ralph Finnes (Voldemort), and the late, great Alan Rickman (Professor Snape).

It's not just nostalgia that makes these films so popular, it's the fact that they are incredibly well-made family films. Christopher Columbus, the director of Philosopher's Stone, and The Chamber of Secrets, brilliantly introduced us to a cinematic world now as familiar as our own. After that the Oscar winning director Alfonso Curon took over for the darker, and arguably best film, The Prisoner of Azkaban, before Mike Newell brought us the epic tale of The Goblet of fire. From then on, the franchise was in the expert hands of David Yates who directed the concluding four films, and brought the series to a dark but ultimately hopeful and rewarding conclusion.

Celebrate 20 years of Potter in style with an epic re-watch of one of cinema's greatest stories.
