Buying DVDs & Blu-Rays
If you're wondering what DVD to buy somebody (or yourself!), have a look at the suggestions below!
The Minions DVD is a top seller for younger kids, followed closely by the fantastic Inside Out DVD by Pixar. The new live action Disney Cinderella DVD and Descendants, also by Disney, are close behind. The Paddington DVD from earlier in 2015 is also looking popular, together with the Big Hero 6 DVD, Home DVD, Shaun The Sheep and Maleficent making a return.
Older Children (& Young At Heart Adults!)
The Jurassic World DVD is, unsurprisingly, the biggest selling DVD for older children. After that there are several movies by Marvel that are popular, with the Ant Man DVD and the Avengers Age Of Ultron DVD jostling for position followed by the Guardians Of The Galaxy DVD. Other action/fantasy/sci-fi films are doing well, such as the Pixels DVD, the new Mission Impossible Rogue Nation DVD, San Andreas, the Hunger Games box set, Star Wars box sets and Hobbit DVDs. The Harry Potter box set is also still proviong popular, even now! There are also a few other popular films that really are for the older children, or for adults but that have a low enough certificate for children, such as the Terminator Genisys DVD, Fast And Furious 7 DVD, Mad Max Fury Road DVD and American Sniper. Finally, if you're after humour then you could try the Spy DVD or Pitch Perfect 2 DVD.
Films & DVDs for Grown-Ups
If you're looking for a more serious film, or one rated too highly for children, then there are plenty of options. There are several documentary/biopics that are doing very well, including the Ronaldo DVD, Brian Clough DVD and Amy Winehouse DVD. You can also try The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel DVD, The Theory Of Everything DVD or The Imitation Game DVD. Alternatively, you could try a James Bond box set, or for some grown up humour there's always the Family Guy box set or have a look through the Michael McIntyre DVDs, Kevin Bridges DVDs, John Bishop DVDs, Alan Carr DVDs and Dara O'Briain DVDs!
No prizes for guessing that a Downton Abbey box set would be easily the most popular TV series, at the time of writing this! Following some way behind is the Big Bang Theory box set. Several other US TV series are doing well too, so check out the latest Castle box set, Vikings box set and The Vampire Diaries box set. The first Better Call Saul box set, the spin-off from Breaking Bad, is also rightly doing well. The Game Of Thrones box set is trailing the list, but the last series was released on DVD (and blu-ray) in February so has been out for a while. If you're after some UK TV then the latest Doc Martin box set and Lewis box set are doing well, plus the recently hugely successful Doctor Foster box set is still popular.
TV Series Box Sets
Box sets of TV series are very popular and to make it easier to browse through all the box sets of a particular TV series we're working to create dedicated sections for the most popular shows. We started off with UK TV Series listing a selection of the most popular shows, e.g. look at our pages for Broadchurch DVDs, Downton Abbey DVDs, Sherlock DVDs, Lewis DVDs and Foyle's War DVDs. Or have a look at our new UK TV Series section! We've also just created a section for non-UK shows (mainly from the US, but some others too), such as NCIS DVDs, Game Of Thrones box sets, Breaking Bad DVDs and House Of Cards box sets - or browse them all here.
Buying online is much more convenient than from the highstreet shops and usually much cheaper. However, prices can vary enormously between retailers and you can save even more by comparing prices first, before you buy, to get the cheapest deal.
We make that job much easier - you tell us what DVD, CD, Book or Video Game you want and we tell you what it currently costs at the top UK shops, including postage charges, so you get the cheap bargain you're looking for. We even link direct to the shops' product pages so it's simple to go on and buy from them.
Shops we compare prices of include:
GamePlay, BBC Shop, Game, HMV, The Hut, Simply Games, GameGears, Argos, WHSmith, PriceMinister, Everything Play, Toys r Us, SendIt, Waterstones, Amazon, CDWow, Woolworths, Games4U, Gameseek, Tesco, Choices UK, LoveFilm, Base, Zavvi, ASDA, Coolshop, MyMemory, PowerPlay, ShopTo and Game Station
. We're constantly adding more, too.
